We will announce the winners of the Independent Spirit Awards recognizing local non-profits for their work. Watch as our artists bring these "giving back" stories to life in movement, song and dance on the main stage. The Independent Spirit Awards
Juried by notable figures in Florida's engaged philanthropic network, The Independent Spirit Awards recognize innovation, sustainability and integrity in our region's non-profit sector in animal welfare, children and families, arts and culture, education, medicine and health and human services. Organizations are nominated by readers who share their good story with us. These stories capture the ways in which each non-profit positively impacted a life, a family or a friend through hope, inspiration and caring. Winners will be announced and recognized on stage at GOOD | GALA. And watch as the heart-warming stories from our readers come to life on stage through an evening of collaborative cultural arts performances.

Kick Off to the Celebrated Cultural Season
For one spectacular evening, the masterminds and master performers behind some of Sarasota’s most storied arts organizations share a stage to celebrate the independent philanthropic sector. There’s nowhere else to be captivated by a dizzying act by Circus Arts Conservatory followed by the entrancing movement of Sarasota Contemporary Dance artists. Intertwined with captivating melodies by talented musicians, there’s no other way to experience all of Sarasota’s artistic jewels in one night, on one stage.
Celebrate the Drama of Bal Masque
In keeping with the tradition and inspiration of the Italian Bal Masque, attendees are invited to celebrate the mystery of the masquerade by donning a mask to the event.

Special musical performances will fill the star-lit courtyard of the Opera House and every floor in between. Regardless of where guests take in the beauty of the night, there shall be music wherever they go.
GOOD GALA 2017 PERFORMERS
Artist Series Concerts of Sarasota is a presenter of live classical, light-classical and popular concerts. The organization presents highly-qualified professional musicians and musical ensembles from the United States and around the world locally to the Sarasota area. Artist Series Concerts of Sarasota is presenting “Piano Grand,” a concert featuring five world-class pianists—Don Bryn, Joseph Holt, Andrew Lapp, Rich Ridenour and Jonathan Spivey—performing a wide range of timeless favorites and familiar light classics. Tthese five pianists will perform “Stars & Stripes Forever” and “The Entertainer,” a 1902 piano rag written by Scott Joplin, on five Steinway & Sons grand pianos.
Moving Ethos Dance encourages truth, empathy, and understanding by building community through performance art. With an "in your face" approach to performance, they take over intimate performance spaces with powerful statements of honesty and transparency.
The Players 87th Broadway season, From Screen to Stage: Telling th Stories That Make You is all about telling stories live on stage with a hint of a smile and nod to their origins in film. They will be “puttin’ on the ritz” by sharing the extraordinary talents of its cast of Young Frankenstein. This musical, based on the classic Mel Brooks Film, will be chock full of hijinx and high steps and will surely please!
Sarasota Contemporary Dance
Sarasota Contemporary Dance brings cutting edge dance of the highest caliber to the community through performance, education, and collaboration. Recognized for its extraordinary level of high-energy, contemporary dance and collaborative performances with artists of various genres, SCD is a can't miss presentation.
For over 65 years, the Sarasota Orchestra has been entertaining music lovers from around the region. The 80-member Orchestra performs more than 100 classical, pops and family concerts each year, and thrives as the oldest continuing orchestra in the state of Florida.
Swing Tide Combo is an exciting vintage Jazz Quintet performing the captivating music of 1930’s, 40’s and 50’s with a classic vintage sound. Their specialty is playing timeless melodies the way they were meant to be heard: vibrant, fun, romantic, hot & cool.
Circus Arts Conservatory
